Peel Recruitment and Training Solutions is currently working with a client to recruit for a SHO in Acute Medicine position within the UK.

An opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of doctors to work within the Acute Care Division. These posts will supplement the Trust Grade rota and would be a part of a rotation between Medicine Specialities.

The posts will attract an out of hours supplement for providing a 1:7 on call cover within the Acute Medical roster, Weekdays 17:00 – 22:00 and 1:7 weekends, 09:00 – 21:30. Hence a successful candidate will not only support daily ward rounds but will have an opportunity to gain experience in the management of admissions of acutely unwell adults.

Other Specialties/services relevant to Acute Medicine Aside from specialty wards mentioned the hospital features  8 bedded CCU  24 bedded Stroke Unit.  22 bedded Re-ablement Unit (IRIS Unit). The IRIS unit is staffed by a Criteria Led Nursing Team with GP input 3 times per week. It offers therapies Monday-Friday 9- 5pm, utilising a designated therapies area with gym equipment.  Endoscopy Unit. The endoscopy unit conforms to JAG standards. An upper GI bleed rota is run by the gastroenterologists and surgeons with bleeds receiving OGD within 24 hrs.  Psychiatry is offsite but there is access to psychiatric input when requested from the Brooker Centre at Halton & Hollins Park at Warrington.  Specialty nurses in cardiology, diabetes, respiratory medicine, frailty, care of older people, rheumatology & palliative care provide in-reach service to the AMU, a CAT (cognitive assessment team).  A cardiac catheter suite is on site & pacing is now done locally, plans to start an angioplasty service are also advanced.  Neurology service is provided from the Walton Centre Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri.  A renal physician visits weekly & is available for case discussion.
